Right now the engine bascially just infects adjacent parts and then checks to see if a condition is met relating to those parts. It could do with an overhaul, but:
- Redoing this means I need to redo most if not all of the tables. Ugh
- Redoing this means adding new values to the creature esgnations, at least 4 for each. ugh
- Change every turn and checker statements (every one) to check if the part is (eg skunky instead of ctype skunk), probably not too bad.
When I actually get around to this it will be a change for the better.
Easier to add more content, but right now its a pain in the ass.
Sounds like a lot of work! ^^;
ReplyDeleteWish I could test the new build for ya, but I don't seem to have the right software... >.>
So, to answer your earlier question, no this isn't what I meant by Application. When I say Application I mean a literal .exe file that you install on your computer. Found here: http://www.scworlds.net/FI/FI.msi
This runs perfectly on my computer, but I understand if it's beyond your ability to reproduce at the moment... ^^;
Also, a possible bug in the old game: "Zap [someone] to Vixen" always asks "Which do you mean, the Latex Vixen or the Vixen?" and if you say "Vixen" it just keeps asking... -.- I also haven't been able to find the item for that transformation, either, though the infection did pop up in a randomized/forced items game... >.>
Anywho, if you could point me to the software to use to run this, that might work just as well, but finding a way to distribute it in .exe format would open up your audience a bit. (The easier it is to run, the more people will play it.)
Thanks for the reply.
ReplyDeleteI'll ask nuku about the MSI.
%\ umm... there is no item. OOps.
I can't fix the vixen bug. It's inform at fault.
The infection that popped up was ACTUALLY a latex infection, otherwise inform is coughing up something best left buried.
I added the item, should be under 2.2D.
MSI... maybe I could set that up.
...No, I'm sure it was just regular "Vixen", 'cuz I've done "Latex Vixen" to check it, and it's not the same. I've no idea how it came up, but it's in the code somewhere... <.<
ReplyDeleteAnd if I'm reading that correctly, you've added the item for "Vixen"? I look forward to experimenting more with that, then.
Also, you never did say where to get the software I need to run this... I'm guessing it's this "Inform" you keep referencing? ^^;
Yes. Inform 7. You also need to install the addon pack for it. IF you look at what it complains about, you should find what you need.
ReplyDeletegoogle infrom to get the software, and click the 'play' arrow in the upper right hand corner when open.
Yeesh, after an hour of searching that site and downloading, trying, getting more complaints, more downloading... I finally got it to work! Mostly... The graphics are a little funky (I say yes to graphics, and the map doesn't show up properly. Saying no to graphics makes it work. o.O)
